Well established automotive manufacturing organisation requires a Project Engineer to join their busy team.  Reporting directly to the Project Manager, as Project Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • All engineering and technical disciplines. You will schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities aiming to assure project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.
  • All aspects of project delivery.  Main areas of focus will be New Product Introduction (NPI), Tool room support and Production improvement initiatives in line with Continuous Improvement policy (COI).

As Project Engineer your duties will include:

  • Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
  • Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field
  • Perform overall quality control (budget, schedule, plans,), reporting regularly on project status
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions
  • Supporting the Project Manager in the delivery of cost-effective solutions, on time and in full.
  • Design of tooling, jigs and fixtures as required.
  • Participate in and monitor the planning and progress of works in relation to timeline and budget and ensure that the development, design, construction, and testing requirements are met and effect remedial action when required
  • Ensure the effectiveness of post project introduction such as CMM strategy, Laser and CNC programming
  • Conduct NPI review meetings with the customer
  • Support Project Manager in the revision and maintenance of the NPI folder structure.
  • Support the Tool Room/Quality Team with CAD/CAM/CMM programming support and advice
  • Engineering qualification preferable but not essential
  • An understanding of the ISO14001 and IATF16949 and their contribution to the business to help to achieve objectives
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline people
  • Experience with leading and developing people
  • Time management and organisation skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CMM/Laser Programming (desirable)

Location: Redditch

Hours of work: Mon to Thurs 7 am to 4 pm, Fri 7 am – 12 noon

Salary:  £35,000 - £38,000 p.a. negotiable
