Quality Engineer
Quality Engineer with an extensive knowledge of and background in the automotive industry, required to join a well-established leading manufacturer based in Kings Norton, Birmingham.
Offered as a permanent contract, as Quality Engineer, you would be responsible for conducting and defining Quality Engineering activities, to ensure that the product quality fully meets customer and company requirements; ensuring customer and company quality requirements are maintained throughout production life and maintaining effective communication throughout the business to ensure a robust QMS is implemented and maintained.
Quality Engineer Job Responsibilities
- Conduct Internal Audits covering both Quality and Environmental Standards.
- Contribute towards setting Quality and Environmental Standards
- Identify 5S concerns and liaise with the relevant team(s).
- Assist in maintaining Environmental Management System [EMS] to ISO14001.
- Conduct drawing and specification review as part of feasibility studies. Identify concerns and liaise with relevant internal and customer contacts until the concerns are resolved.
- Lead, or provide active input into, PFMEA meetings and subsequent reviews.
- Evaluate dimensional and visual assessment of components & raw material, identifying errors and implementing necessary corrective action(s).
- Assist the Inspection Instructions based on the Control Plan/Gauge Plan/FMEA and gain concurrence form specified areas.
- Conduct pre-production audits on samples prior to despatch to the customer and ensure that they meet specified requirements.
- Assist with preliminary process studies, confirm control limits with Production Engineers, and agree actions to correct any non-stable / non capable processes.
- Monitor process capability during production and agree actions to correct non stable/non capable processes.
- Arrange for the inspection of customer returns and provide reports on causes of rejection and corrective action
- Lead root cause analysis and assist with the resolution of quality concerns
- Lead improvement activities within the company.
- Visit/liaise with customers and suppliers as required.
- Flexibility to undertake training and provide support within Quality Department as required.
- Ensure housekeeping in the Quality area is maintained in a satisfactory condition.
- Effective use of performance charts to present actions and tracking of actions & status.
- To provide support to manufacturing teams to resolve quality concerns and promote quality. On receipt of quality concerns, evaluate and implement containment activity, both internally and externally.
- Planning of workload to ensure completion of activities within agreed timing program.
Successful candidate for the role of Quality Engineer must possess:
- Practical engineering experience
- Excellent understanding of ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO14001, APQP and PPAP.
- Attention to detail
- Proficient communication skills
- Determination to ensure quality standards are met and customer satisfaction is ensured
- Preferred use of Polyworks software
- Experience of scanning arm or programming a CMM.
Salary: £35,000 to £37,000 p.a.
Hours of Work: Mon to Thurs 7am to 4pm, Fri 7am to 1pm
