An opportunity is available to work within a long established, respected local organisation, as a Quality Manager reporting to the Technical and Quality Director based in Hereford. This Quality Manger would join a fast paced environment and would need to maintain high levels of product quality and customer service levels. Successful candidate must have the potential to significantly influence the appeal of premium products in the eyes of customers. The management of the interactions with customers, and response to any quality or quality documentation queries is vital in maintaining the reputation of technical excellence in the marketplace.

Duties of Quality Manager

  • Manage the Company Quality Management System
  • Manage customer communications on quality / non-commercial topics
  • Manage the customer audit, external accreditation, and internal audit process
  • Manage the customer complaint process and coordinate on-site resolution activities
  • Manage the requirements process to ensure correct documentation and instructions and produced for all orders to be planned
  • Manage customer facing quality documentation (Certificates, Control Plans, FMEA’s, Inspection and Test Plans, Operating Procedures for customer approval)
  • Manage the calibration process
  • Interface with customers during site visits, customer inspections, meetings, and audits
  • Ensure the correct structures are in place to guarantee consistent high quality across the site
  • Function as the Quality Management Representative as required by AS9100 and any other quality standards adopted by the business
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, represent Quality within the business
  • Proactively work with technical, production, commercial, + sales teams to improve above processes

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant industrial experience
  • Experience in communicating with customers
  • Knowledge of quality non-conformance handling
  • Knowledge of the audit process. Good customer communication skills are essential.
  • Engineering or metallurgical background preferred
  • Degree qualified (ideally in Material Science or Metallurgy)
  • Strong Quality Background
  • Familiar with RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) and FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) methodologies
  • Proven experience in a high volume production environment
  • Engineering manufacturing background

Hours of Work: Various Shift Patterns available – days, rotation, continentals

Salary: £55,000 p.a. to £65,000 p.a. dependent on shift allocation and experience
