Maintenance Engineer
Electronics & Mechanical Maintenance Engineer required to join an established sheet metal manufacturing company, based in Kings Norton, supporting operations across three local sites within a 10‑mile radius. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of production equipment across multiple sites. Working within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, the role involves preventative and reactive maintenance, fault‑finding and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Successful candidate for the role of Maintenance Engineer, will possess mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills, be IT literate, have high attention to detail and be able to work under pressure and effectively alone or as part of a team. The role of Maintenance Engineer is offered as a permanent contract with overtime and immediate start available.
Maintenance Engineer key duties:
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across a wide range of production equipment, including presses, welders, CNC machinery, robotics and facilities systems
- Oversee general facilities maintenance across all three sites, including utilities, building systems and workshop safety equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults to minimise downtime
- Support electrical controls and PLC fault‑finding, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently
- Maintain accurate records within the maintenance system and ensure compliance with statutory inspections and safety standards
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams across multiple sites, supporting new equipment installation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in risk assessments, PUWER compliance checks and machinery safety improvements
Skills required by Maintenance Engineer:
- Proven experience in maintenance within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Strong mechanical skills, including hydraulics and pneumatics
- Solid electrical knowledge of control panels, sensors, drives and safety circuits
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Effective problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently across multiple sites
- Competence in using computer‑based maintenance systems
- Experience with robotic welding systems, CNC equipment, laser cutting or press brake machinery – desirable
- IOSH/NEBOSH or relevant safety training – desirable
Location: Kings Norton, Birmingham (Multi site, three sites within close proximity – 10 miles)
Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:00 – 16:00 and Friday 07:00 – 13:00
Salary: £38,000 to £43,000 dependent upon experience
