Mechanical Fitter

A well‑established air handling unit manufacturer is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their installation and assembly team. Offered as a permanent contract, the role of Mechanical Fitter provides an attractive salary range, company vehicle and phone.

This is a hybrid role involving both factory-based assembly of Air Handling Units and on-site installation, modifications and support work. Successful candidate for the Mechanical Fitter will be working from technical drawings, preparing units for delivery and ensuring all work meets high standards of quality and health & safety.

You will also be required to work away 2/3 times a week, travel time to site is payable working hours, overnight accommodation and food allowance is also provided.

Your duties as Mechanical Fitter would include:

  • Factory assembly and fitting of Air Handling Units (AHUs)
  • Working from technical drawings and specifications
  • Preparing units for delivery
  • Attending site installations, modifications, and support works
  • Maintaining high standards of quality and health & safety
  • Carrying out minor on-site mechanical adjustments, repairs, or retrofits as required
  • Liaising with project managers, site supervisors, and customers to ensure smooth installation and handover
  • Conducting basic functional checks and assisting with pre commissioning activities

Successful candidates for the role of Mechanical Fitter would require the following:

  • Experience as an AHU Fitter or Mechanical Fitter – essential
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Strong mechanical skills and attention to detail
  • Reliable, motivated, and able to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to work both in the factory and on-site
  • CSCS card, IPAF/PASMA is desirable
  • Full UK Driving licence

Location: Bromsgrove, Worcestershire
(Must be flexible as will be required to work away 2–3 days a week)
Salary: £15–£17 per hour, depending on experience
Benefits: Company van, Company phone, Payable working hours include travel time to site, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
Hours: 40 hours per week
Overtime paid at time‑and‑a‑half for hours over 50 per week

  • Weekend rate paid at x1.5
